Writing the Body: Writing Workshops
Monday, September 12th, 2022- October 3, 2022
Class will meet weekly via Zoom (Monday, 6:00PM EST - 8:00PM EST).
In this four week workshop, we will focus on three themes: Pain, Sexuality, and Hunger. Through exploring various texts and writing pieces that focus on the sensation of living in a body, each student will gain deeper insight into how to conjure the body in their writing, no matter the genre.
We’ll meet weekly on Zoom for two hours-- one hour of discussion, one hour of workshop. Prepare for this course to be reading and discussion heavy.
walk away having workshopped one piece. Through vigorous discussion and reading examples, writers will gain a deeper understanding of the ways in which they explore their own bodily experience, in addition to new ways to diversify their perspective.
It Doesn’t Have To Be Awkward: A Guide to relationships, consent, and other-Hard-To-talk-about-stuff
When it comes to talking about sex, relationships, and consent, nothing is ever simple—especially as a teenager. But it doesn’t have to be awkward. In this funny, down-to-earth guide, Dr. Drew and his daughter, Paulina, break down the three most important aspects of any healthy relationship: trust, compassion, and boundaries. Together, they will use these principles to address all your questions about crushes, friendships, and sex, and give you the easy-to-remember foundations of consent.
Filled with tangible and accessible resources, this is the perfect guide for teens, parents, and educators to go beyond “the talk” and dive into honest and meaningful conversations about sex, relationships, and consent.
